The student should demonstrate readiness for rigorous, concept-based learning, effective communication in English, critical and analytical thinking, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with maturity to manage deadlines, projects, and independent study. Equally important are values such as respect, integrity, resilience and empathy, qualities that support holistic development and prepare the learner to contribute positively to the school community and the world beyond.

Assessments for High School

For admissions to Grade 9, the school follows a structured assessment process to determine a student’s readiness for High School within the Cambridge curriculum. NIS uses YELLIS, a Cambridge assessment tool, to evaluate students’ developed abilities, learning aptitude, and academic potential. This is complemented by a review of previous academic records and interactions to assess subject understanding, English proficiency, and readiness for concept-based learning. The process aligns with the expectations of Cambridge Assessment International Education, emphasising critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to apply knowledge independently.
