As part of their CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) project, IBDP students undertook a meaningful initiative to raise awareness about the environmental impact of fast fashion. The project began with students conducting a primary survey to understand public attitudes and consumer behavior towards fashion consumption, especially the growing trend of disposable clothing.
Building on their findings, students researched the environmental effects of fast fashion using reliable online sources, highlighting issues such as textile waste, water usage, and carbon emissions. To take action, they organized a denim collection drive within the school community, encouraging peers and staff to donate old denim garments. The collected items were then handed over to a partnering NGO, which refurbished the fabric into blankets for those in need.
This initiative not only raised awareness but also promoted responsible consumption and sustainable practices. Through the project, students developed skills in research, data analysis, event organization, and community engagement, while reflecting on the power of collective action to drive positive environmental change.
