IAYP is a global non-formal education framework that challenges students to dream big, celebrate their achievements, and make a difference in their world. The Award is designed to help young people discover their passion and purpose, equipping them with the practical life skills and resilience needed to succeed in an ever-changing global environment.
The IAYP program at Nahar International School is open to students in Grade 9 and AS/DP1, offering a progressive framework for personal development. Participants can enter directly at a level appropriate for their age and commitment level.
- Bronze: Open to Grade 9 students (minimum age 13.5) with a 6-month commitment. It requires regular activity in Service, Skills, and Physical Recreation, plus an Adventurous Journey.
- Silver: Primarily for AS/DP1 students (minimum age 14.5) with a 12-month commitment. This level demands increased independence and consistency across all award sections.
- Gold: For students aged 16 and above with an 18-month commitment. In addition to the four standard sections, Gold participants must complete a Residential Project.
Each level requires approximately one hour of work per week for each chosen activity.
Participants design their own Award programme by setting personal goals and choosing activities that challenge them across four key areas.

Give back to the community by regularly volunteering at various places in need.

Explore and acquire new talents—such as photography or public speaking—to push your personal limits and become versatile.

Physical Recreation
Participate in sports or active hobbies to break a sweat and refresh both your mind and body.

Plan and undertake a short outdoor trip in a small team to build endurance, teamwork, and environmental awareness.

- Photography Portfolio and Experience logs: View a 27-week skill development journey of one of our Bronze Level students. Their report tracks a comprehensive progression from learning basic camera buttons to mastering technical settings like shutter speed, ISO, and focal length. The project culminated in a final portfolio presented for a school art competition, showcasing their dedication and "never give up" attitude. Participants maintain consistent logs to track their weekly progress, emphasizing that the Award is a "marathon, not a sprint". These logs serve as evidence of personal success, capturing specific reflections and achievements across the Service, Skills, and Physical Recreation sections.
