Established in 2017-2018, this program is a mandatory initiative for students transitioning from Grade 10 to Grade 11 (IBDP1 and AS Level). These internships provide a firsthand glimpse into professional environments, helping students explore diverse career paths and build impactful college portfolios. By moving beyond traditional classrooms, students develop essential soft skills like critical thinking and teamwork, fulfilling our goal to prepare them as capable adults ready for the real world.
To ensure a structured and professional experience for our students, the internship program follows a clear timeline and set of guidelines:
- Duration: The primary internship period runs from April 16 to May 9. Please note that specialized placements, such as those at IIT Bombay, may extend into June or July depending on the project scope.
- Daily Timings: Internships typically take place between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. However, specific programs may require extensions up to 6:00 PM to accommodate professional workflows.
- Mandatory Requirement: Participation in this internship is a mandatory part of the transition program for all Grade 11 students, as it is vital to developing the character and real-world readiness prioritized by the school.
- Certification: While these internships are unpaid, they offer invaluable professional exposure. Upon successful completion, every student will receive a certificate or letter of experience to include in their college portfolios and future resumes.
To ensure every student finds a professional environment that aligns with their interests and needs, we offer three distinct internship pathways. These modes provide the "real-world classrooms" essential for students to observe, apply, and adapt their skills in professional settings.
Placements are conducted at the professional organisations of our parent community. Every site is thoroughly verified for safety, allowing students to experience a traditional, hands-on corporate or field environment firsthand.
Provided by parents who are freelancers or start-up owners, these opportunities offer professional flexibility. Students can work from home or school, gaining insight into the world of remote collaboration and digital entrepreneurship.
These skills-based internships are conducted on campus by NIS expert faculty. High-intensity programs, such as the Art Catalyst or Chemistry Research Colloquium, allow students to deep-dive into specialized fields of study.
